On April 14th, 2023, the European Space Agency’s JUICE spacecraft was launched into space. This mission marks a historic milestone that will allow researchers to study Jupiter and three of its moons: Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa – all believed to contain vast seas beneath their icy surfaces.

Luxel provided several essential parts for this project, including ultrathin carbon foils (5nm) for start and stop measurements in the spectrometer, accelerator grids without film, and shutter grids (50nm LUXFilm(R) Polyimide/30nm Al and 50nm LUXFilm(R) Polyimide/30nm Al/11nm Pd); these components are part of JENI which helps measure neutral atoms and ions in the atmosphere surrounding Jupiter. JENI is a cousin to the EPI instrument on the Parker Solar Probe.
